Tools and fixtures shared between machines

A job needs more than its machine and its operator: a welding jig, a gauge, a mould, a torque wrench, and there are fewer of them than of the machines that use them.

Built in A field or setting does it directly.

How

List them in Project settings → Operators → Tools and fixtures: a name and how many, welding jig: 2; torque wrench: 1 tool (in the profile, resources beside the operator pool: "welding_jig": { "name": "Welding jig", "total_pool": 2, "kind": "fixture" }). On each task that needs one set Needs (Hardware → the machine's task; "resources": [{ "resource": "welding_jig", "qty": 1 }]).

A job starts only when everything it needs is free, its operators too, and takes it all at once: nothing is held while it waits for the rest, so two jobs never lock each other out. A tool is back when the work is done. A fixture holds its unit until it leaves the station: a finished unit blocked in its cell keeps the jig, as a real one does.

The results give each pool's use, its peak and the time stations waited for it (summary.sharedResources). Auto Generate does not size tools and fixtures: it buys machines for the work; how many jigs you need is yours to try (run with one more and compare).

Not built in: booking a fixture for a later time window, and a machine whose capabilities change with the tool fitted (use setups for that).

Check

Three welding cells share two jigs; a frame every 90 s is welded in a jig for 240 s. Two jigs weld 30 frames an hour against 40 demanded: 562 frames in 20 h, the cells wait 20 h for a jig in all and the lead time grows to 2.6 h. With a third jig (and the fourth cell Build layout then adds) all 796 are made, with no wait for a jig.
