Stacks: the last unit in is the first one out
Units wait in a stack, not a lane: plates laid on a pile before a press, boards on a cart, parts in a bin taken from the top.
Built in A field or setting does it directly.
When
The machine takes the one put down last.
How
On the machine (or buffer) the units wait at, set Takes next → Last in (LIFO) in its Hardware flyout ("queue_discipline": "lifo"). On a line it takes the last unit that joined its queue; in a work centre the last job within a priority (hot orders still go first).
For every work centre at once, Project settings → Release and queues → Queues take next → Last come (LIFO) ("dispatch_rule": "lifo"). A machine's own rule wins over the project's, so one stack in a shop of first-come queues is that machine's setting alone.
Watch the units at the bottom: as long as new ones keep arriving they are not taken. The mean lead time of the units that finish then looks short, because the oldest are not among them; the units still on the floor and their ages (Run details, Measured period) show the ones left waiting.
Check
Plates are cut every 10 s onto a stack of up to six before a press that takes 60 s. The press makes one a minute whichever plate it takes. First in, plates 2 to 6 are pressed next; last in, each newer plate goes first and plates 2 to 6 stay at the bottom of the stack for the whole run (test/lifo-queues.test.mjs).
