Batch machines: furnaces, ovens, autoclaves

A machine processes several units together: they are loaded, the cycle runs once for all of them, and they come out together (heat treatment, autoclave curing, a wash basket, a kiln).

Built in A field or setting does it directly.

How

On the machine:

  • positions: the most units one batch holds (8).
  • position_mode: "batch".
  • batch_min: the units it needs before it starts (default: full).
  • batch_max_wait_s: start with fewer once the oldest unit has waited this long (7200), so a slow trickle does not wait forever.
  • The capability's time is the time of one batch, not of one unit.

Give the machines before and after enough pre_buffer / post_buffer for a whole batch, or the batch blocks its neighbours when it unloads.

Check

Gears are hobbed (7 min), hardened in an 8-gear furnace (1 h per batch) and ground (5 min), one every 10 minutes. Six gears arrive per hour, so a batch fills in 80 minutes and one furnace carries the load: the run makes all 144 gears of 24 h. Lead time includes the wait for the batch to fill.
